The ESD electrostatic discharge device can be considered as a preventative device which exists to check the user protective equipment via their wrist straps and conductive or antistatic footwear that operating correctly by measuring the user total resistance to ground is within the limits defined in the JSP482 specification.

The ESD electrostatic discharge device also called as personnel discharge unit, personnel discharge device, HAPTM Hazardous Area Personnel Test Meter or machine, Shoe Tester, Antistatic device etc…

As indicated in the specification if the user fail the test then the user must not enter the hazardous environment or respective area and leave to obtain replacement wrists straps or footwear.

So, if their wrist straps and or conductive footwear is working correctly and their resistance to ground is within the limits prescribed, any excess electrostatic charge they accumulate while carrying out their job, will be safely discharged through their body and away either through the conductive floor or via the earth points to which their wrist straps are connected.

The regime being operated is either conductive <1MΩ or anti-static 750K to 1000MΩ resistance. ATEX certified products can be used in the Hazardous Area environment. ESD’s are dedicated devices to measuring the electrical resistance of antistatic shoes for preventing human body electrostatic charging while they are worn. The device can be used in various ways, such as mounted on a wall, placed on a desk, or combined with the measurement stand. Maximum and minimum values can be set between 0.1M Ohms to 3000M Ohms, with the device warning the user with a light and buzzer when the measured value exceeds them.

The ESD Devices can be operated via Direct current or alternative current as per the user requirements. We provide 5 years warranty for our devices and the design life the devices are more than 15 years. The country of origin of the devices are from Europe

The device is a dedicated measuring instrument that measures the electrical resistance of conductive or antistatic, electricity from the human body, while the shoes and or wrist strap are being worn. To perform measurement, the person wearing the shoes stands on the base and operates the instrument simply by pressing the touch panel with one finger. A resistance of 100 MΩ or less to ground is required to eliminate static electricity from the human body,  at least 0.1 MΩ is desired for the prevention of electrical shock. Since the resistance of the shoes will vary depending on the temperature and humidity, dirt on the shoe soles, and friction, periodic measurement and maintenance is required.
